the artist drives his car west from a motel
next to the highway in Winslow Arizona
he fills his car at a gas station
and buys a cup of coffee
then drives toward meteor crater
off highway 40 then meteor crater road
the crater is a privately owned meteor divot
gouged out of the earth when a nickel-iron meteor
collided with the earth about 50,000 years ago
creating a pit about 3,900 feet in diameter
and 560 feet deep

the artist parks his car in the lot
he walks into the building through the entrance
then up several flights of stairs
to an exit door which leads to the crater
he begins experiencing a severe headache
which forces him to return to the lobby
he tells the attendant that he has to go
to his car

unbeknowst to him
he is experiencing an hemorrhagic stroke
he lays down in the front seat

the drummer is a young man performing
in the Caribbean day parade in Brooklyn
he has a Jamaican flag attached to his drum
he is finished for the day and is walking
with friends back to the beginning
